HOW TO USE OUR BEESWAX WRAPS

Use the heat of your hands to mould the wrap around your chosen container or food item. Firmly press around the edges to soften and ever-so-slightly melt the beeswax to form a tight seal. From room temperature to the fridge or freezer, natural beeswax wraps move around the kitchen with ease. During the colder seasons, your beeswax wraps can become hard and stiff. No problem, you can crumple them into a tight ball a couple of times, and they will become flexible again.

Create your own holders for small food items like grapes, nuts & seeds, marshmallows, sweets, cocktail tomatoes, and more. Beeswax food wraps can be used for reusable food storage bags that work just as well as ziplock plastic bags. Avoid using beeswax wraps for saucy, oily, or acidic foods, as this can degrade the coating and cause staining.

For the best results, use a beeswax wrap that’s much larger than the objects or food you’re wrapping. For example, a small wrap should completely cover the open half of a sliced lemon or onion to be effective. When covering plates, bowls, mugs, or jars, make sure the wrap covers the mouth of the container and reaches at least halfway down its sides; this is necessary to create a successful seal. Moekie’s Beeswax Food Wraps can be cut into any shape or size you desire.

CLEANING AND CARE

Cleaning and Caring for your beeswax wraps is easy:

Gently handwash in cold water with a mild soap, use a sponge for stubborn patches, and rinse.
Air dry your beeswax wrap(out of direct sunlight) – do not twist or wring.

Store at room temperature out of direct sunlight and in a dust-free environment.
Roll them up and put them in a drawer or store them in a nice glass jar for a beautiful display.

Beeswax food wraps are heat sensitive. If things heat up too much, the wax will liquify and come off entirely.
Avoid harmful chemicals and astringent substances like vinegar.
DO NOT use excessive abrasion, as this will wear away the coating on your beeswax wraps.
NOT dishwasher, microwave, or oven safe. –
Do NOT cover hot dishes or heat the wraps.
NEVER use with raw meat, fish, or seafood.
Beeswax wraps DO NOT stick to wet surfaces.
To sterilize your beeswax wrap, you can also iron it between two sheets of wax paper. The heat will kill the germs.
You can also repair your beeswax wrap by ironing it between two sheets of wax paper or you can do this in your oven on an old baking tray at a low temperature (140⁰C for 4 – 5 min) to melt the wax and redistribute it over the surface of the fabric again. With regular use and proper care, your beeswax food wraps should last between 9 – 12 months. The key thing to remember is that without a bit of TLC, they won’t last as long as they should.
